Your stay at the Arthostel
Located in the heart of Unkel’s historic old town, the studio house is the ideal accommodation for your trip to the Lower Middle Rhine Valley. Artfully designed and with the Rhine promenade, restaurants, and shopping facilities in the immediate vicinity. Well suited for culture lovers, wine enthusiasts, Rhine hikers, and cycling tourists, as well as a retreat for a relaxing time out.
The house is an artistic jewel in the heart of Unkel’s historic old town and a newly built part of a building complex dating from 1925. It is located less than 100 meters from the picturesque Rhine promenade, and restaurants, cafés, and shopping facilities are in the immediate vicinity. All rooms in the entire ensemble have been lovingly designed by the landlady, Martine Seibert-Raken, and are enriched with her art objects as well as designs by Kartell Italia.
The house is completely self-sufficient, has its own entrance, and a gorgeous rooftop terrace on the first floor that invites you to chill out surrounded by sculptures and artwork. The view from the second floor in the morning up to the vineyard is just amazing, as is the one from the attic over the rooftops of Unkel.

The house can accommodate up to 7 guests on three levels. It features a large double bed in the attic and three single beds. On the second floor, there is a large box spring bed for two people. Additionally, you will find a large lounge sofa that can be quickly converted into a comfortable sleeping area for two people. Another sofa bed is available on the first floor.
Right on the same level as the roof terrace is a kitchen-diner with a table that serves as both a cooking area and a dining table. Cooking is done with gas. The first shower room is also located on this level. On the ground floor, just behind the entrance gate, bikes/e-bikes can be safely stored and items such as hiking boots, umbrellas, or beverage crates can be stored. Downstairs, in the courtyard between the old and new buildings, you will also find a washing machine and dryer.
Pictures of Unkel and the studio house
The studio house is perfect for two people who want to stay for a few days or weeks to explore the area. Families and small groups are also welcome, of course! Many Rheinsteig hikers and cyclists like to drop by, as they can easily get back on the trail or route after a night in Unkel. With its excellent transport links, the house is also ideal for business travelers and weekend commuters.
A visit to the studio of artist Martine Seibert Raken next door is always possible by arrangement. In addition, smaller private music events (especially jazz, blues, soul) take place every first Friday of the month as part of “First Fridays.” As guests of the house, you are cordially welcome to attend.
We are looking forward to welcoming you!
