“I seek out the rupture and perceive it as a complement. In line with the notion that opposites attract and simultaneously generate tension. I consider this to be a way of revealing a possible perspective on things and of creating new points of view.”

The interplay between nature and mankind, change and transience, tradition and new perspectives – these aspects of life have been on my mind since my early youth. They constantly lead me back to the question: What remains? Of me? Of us? Art has always been the language in which I can best express my thoughts and emotions on this subject.
My works are intended to touch the viewers deeply, to reach their soul and memory. They are meant to establish a connection to themes, places and landscapes, to convey vitality, but also, ultimately, to appeal to our sense of responsibility. I strive to tell stories about the world as it presents itself to us today, while also raising questions about possible future developments.
I seek out the rupture and perceive it as a complement. In line with the notion that opposites attract and simultaneously generate tension. I consider this to be a way of revealing a possible perspective on things and of creating new points of view.
In terms of subjetcs, I am primarily concerned with light and shadow and the resulting changeability. I work with everyday materials: wire, metal, paper, wood and plastic. I also often use rusted and patinated surfaces. My works are characterised by the densification of the chosen material, by upheavals and breaks, and their appearance is constantly changing. The incidence of light is the essential element and gives the developed and given structures their changing expression.
The spaces I deal with, I understand them as a holistic sphere, shaped by their function and the people who live or work in them. I am always driven by the idea of letting material speak in a new form. The speaking space. The space as a stage. The space as an opportunity to combine material, colour, form and design into an exciting overall concept. And thus achieve a very individual effect that distributes meanings.

Meanwhile, my artistic work focuses on the series ‘Once upon a time…’, which started in 2015. The title primarily refers to the process of transience, which forms the central theme here. Installations in specific locations are continued in sculptures, drawings and objects.

In my work, installations always relate to a deliberately chosen location or place that is significant to me. This can be in nature or in an urban space. With my large-scale installations, I work invasively, sometimes for a limited period of time, interacting with the respective location and seeking to give clues to the viewer.

My sculptures often emerge as part of larger projects. I frequently develop them from models that I create in advance of large installations. Other pieces are born from my imagination. Unlike my installations, which are specific to a particular location, my sculptures are standalone and independent of any particular place.

In my wall objects, I often pick up the artistic thread that I started with an installation in a specific location or landscape. Other works relate to landforms and natural phenomena that I associate with special experiences and emotions from my life.

Drawing has been very familiar to me since my childhood. Sketches leave every line indelible, like footsteps in real life. Drawing and sketching are my constant companions and give my thoughts their initial form. In addition, I have discovered reverse glass painting as a form of expression for myself.

This portfolio-to-go offers a concise overview of my work. It includes insights into my artistic motivation, important milestones of my life, central subjects and preferred colours and materials.
