Once upon a time… Part 10. Unkel goes to Venice

After staging Löwenburg for “Start Sculpture 2018” (sculpture Network), I received an invitation to the 2019 Venice Biennale and installed my work at ECC Venice in the Palazzo Mora. I travelled to Venice a year in advance to prepare sketches and models.

In Venice, I found a building that was predestined to perfectly realise the idea behind the title ‘Unkel goes to Venice’. In my work, I was supported in every way by art collector Fritz Bagel. In the legendary Palm House, owned by the Bagel family, I was able to prepare the installation planned for Venice. The result was presented in the form of a test setup at ‘start 19’ for sculpture Network.
